Singapore 1 December 2023 — Mercy Relief announced today that it has proactively engaged ground and regional partners in its efforts to offer relief to the communities impacted by the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Its primary collaborator is the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), and Mercy Relief has also been working closely with various ground partners for rapid needs’ assessments and technical support.

Raising Funds with Singapore actors
The funds raised by Mercy Relief has been utilised to address the diverse needs of the impacted communities and are directed towards essential survival and developmental programs.

Collaborating with Rahmatan Lil Alamin, MUIS, Masjid Kassim, MudaSG, Perdaus and Muhammadiyah for its fundraising efforts, Mercy Relief has also appealed for direct public donations on Giving.sg plaform.These contributions will be allocated to communities in need in the West Bank, Gaza, and Refugee Camps, for a broader reach to provide inclusive support to individuals and families, including those who leave West Bank or Gaza. 

Delivery of Programs with Local Ground Partners
As Singapore’s leading disaster management organization, Mercy Relief actively contributes to the co-design and co-implementation of programmes with local actors, complemented by robust impact assessments.

Its immediate efforts include focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter, and Healthcare. Mercy Relief is also working with different ground partners to ensure that the progrommes meet international standards and are specific to community needs and culture.

The Mercy Relief team, comprising technical experts, is poised for deployment on the ground.

Mobilizing Key Logistics
On November 30, Mercy Relief dispatched 5 tons of medical supplies, in its first wave of aid to Cairo, Egypt, in collaboration with local partners through the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

Working alongside the public and regional partners in Malaysia and Indonesia, Mercy Relief is coordinating the collection effort for essential items like winter blankets and clothing for delivery during the winter months, in the subsequent wave of aid.

Future Initiatives
A champion of care and compassion, Mercy Relief remains steadfast in its commitment to collaborate with local and overseas partners to execute sustained and impactful programmes to all communities in need of aid.

Mercy Relief is studying efforts to implement education and sustainable livelihood initiatives that will help position the communities well for long-term growth and self-sufficiency.
