Mercy Overseas Volunteer Expeditions (MOVE)

MOVE was created in 2010 with the intention of encouraging active global citizenry. Our volunteers experience first-hand the challenges faced by vulnerable communities, and learn how to be part of the solution.

We have ongoing sustainable development projects in countries across the region including Cambodia, the Philippines, Nepal and India. Working alongside partners on the ground, we address issues in the areas of water and sanitation, healthcare, shelter, sustainable livelihood and education.

We also ensure that our volunteers are well-prepared to make a positive contribution. All volunteers undergo a training programme that teaches them the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of humanitarian work. During their trip, volunteers will also dive into exploring issues related to the community, humanitarian industry and personal growth.

Corporates

Corporate volunteers can use their professional skills and services for the greater good, while taking team-building to a new level. While on an expedition, professionals are encouraged to teach new skills to a community, or roll up their sleeves and assist in infrastructure development.

Schools

MOVE helps to cultivate the spirit of volunteerism early on. Our youth volunteers visit vulnerable communities and understand how to support their needs. Along the way, they learn important lessons on humility, empathy, compassion and gratitude, and grow as individuals. Through team work and cross-cultural interaction, they build confidence, maturity and independence.

Eligible participants can apply for grants through the Youth Expedition Project (YEP), an initiative of the National Youth Council (NYC).
